The EU’s eco-design regulation EU 2023/1670 is based on the framework of the EU Energy Directive (ERP Directive 2009/125/EC) and adopts the concept of ESPR, a sustainable eco-design regulation for products, to control product durability, maintainability, and recycling. The regulation sets ecological design requirements for mobile phones and tablets, such as putting forward clear indicators for product standby power consumption, battery life, disassembly, etc., and stipulates the corresponding energy efficiency labeling requirements, requiring enterprises to clearly mark the energy efficiency level of the product when selling products, so as to guide consumers to buy more energy-saving and environmentally friendly products.
